Vagina at war

"Rape" just sounds like a common word nowadays. I remember a time when we didn't knew the meaning of the same and it was considered a dirty and a "don't utter" labelled word. We had a lump in our throat before we talked about it.But now things are different Rape is happening every now and then in our society and is a very common suffering for women. I feel very surprised when I see ourselves fighting for our own "private parts" our own "vagina". Even A  4year old girl going to school is found being raped who doesn't even knows that she is at a "war" with her own "vagina". Why is our society so hungry? they don't realise the fact that they are hampering their own pride and respect i.e Women. What is Rape? Rape is a forceful sexual intercourse without the consent of the victim that happens by threat of harm. When a women is raped she not only is sexually assaulted but also mentally paralysed. Kalbelia tribe through my lens

It was when I landed on the land of colours and traditional values, only then I could realise its beauty and Royality. The vintage heritage that can be smelled in the air. The foot prints of love left behind on the sand dunes that get distributed all over the Thar. The people who touch your heart with their warmth and you carry the memories to cherish forever. No wonder, why they add that little amount of sweetness in their foods just to give you a call of love to come back. Yes, I experienced the colours of happiness even in a desert. After witnessing the glory and Royal affair of the state .I went for camping in the Sam village in Thar desert, Rajasthan. That is when I met those beautiful tribe of vagabond girls who took a corner in my heart "the kalbelia girls". Kalbelia is a group of nomad "serpents" in Rajasthan. Their traditional occupation is to catch snakes and trading them from one place to another. They reside in small camps called deras and keep changing

Am I Born or Dead

Everyone has a right to live and learn but the society has made my tribe weak with the torture and she is just learning to live. Here's what my "gulabi tribe"wants to convey to every individual in the society that questions her presence. In the ray of a flash light I can see myself lying on the death -bed. It's difficult to see my own body in such a pain, but I feel relieved when I see my eyes closed. I feel peaceful as they (my eyes) cannot see the damage I went through. Those little globular organs couldn't bear the pain my body went through. And the water from those balls in form of tears wash out the dirt I was gifted with. I was born and instead of celeberation everyone mourned because I was a girl child. I escaped death because at the time my family came to know about me being a female it was too late. I was already 5months old fetus. There was no option for me but to be born. I was brought up with the last best things of this world. Years passed and i to

"Smoking" oops "hating" is injurious to health

The recent viral pictures of the famous celebrities Ranbir and Mahira are making a steaming gossip over the coffee everywhere. The viral pictures took a wide turn when few people showed there disagreed faces against the Pakistani actress and she was slut-shamed all over for smoking in a short dress in New York. The eyes went to and fro focusing on the lady blowing smoke rather than watching the handsome man doing the same. Ah.. well yes he was noticed too when we decided to claim that being a Pakistani women Mahira shouldn't have done smoking with a Man. My question is why is a woman slut shamed in public for living freely? Smoking is definitely injurious for health but hating someone also falls in the same track. What if she was wearing a short dress and sitting in public with a man. That man is not being questioned for his drinking cigarette just because his gender owns the right to do that and we tag it as "cool statement". It is we who make our societies conservativ

"Youngest sarpanch"

When everyone is all gaga n blah blah over the Dera Sacha sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim. My heart and mind had no option but to just jump out of the well of all the whatsapp messages and social uploads of this epic drama.I tried to breath and inhaled one of the sweetest fragrance around.I let my eyes do a little swinging, to and fro. Then i came across few pictures of encouraging award ceremonies ,which captured my eyes and I was awestruck. I stopped on a lady with glittering eyes and confident looks. To quench my thirst of knowledge I searched and found the details. Google says she is "the first youngest lady sarpanch ever". I was overwhelmed  seeing the best suitable example of our tribe "gulabi tribe". She flaunts her pair of denims with Indian kurti with a scarf around her neck and sits as a sarpanch between the ladies still in "ghoonghats".She is Chhavi Rajawat, aged 39, an MBA degree holder and after working in different mnc's she chose to do som

Patriarchy on her phone ...not done!!

It's 7:30 in the morning and I am sipping some tea in the mid of my bouncing from the kitchen till waking up my little bunny, not showing signs good enough to do that early. Between the rampage of the daily routine, my eyes get captivated to a news flashing on the screen of my TV. It said " women will be fined,if found talking on their mobile phones". I at once check with my phone and the beings at home, whether I am liable for the same or not. Luckily the news said " the western part of Uttar Pradesh" and took a sigh of relief. It's 8:30nd my lad is ready to be dropped to his play school. N I pick up my cellphone before I leave . But ,the same thought wanders my mind throughout . How can some one be fined for talking on the phone?  The situation becomes complicated when it mentions"patriarchy ruling on women talking on mobile". A panchayat in a village called Madora,a Muslim dominated area in Uttar Pradesh, have passed a rule saying "any wom

Lipstick under the burkha or ghoonghat

Life is all about exploring and seeking every moment to stand out. But, when our system creates a "parda" between the dreams and our lives ,then comes the time to wear your " lipstick under the burkha" or ghoonghat . Yes, I am talking about the latest ladies crush in B-town that everyone is talking about. The movie "lipstick under my burkha" which taking everyone's ears to notice.  Caged gulabi tribe Well, there have been many revolutionary moves to let our "pink clan " or as I name them "the gulabi tribe" to,take steps to pave there ways to the road of their dreams. There have been afcourse many to criticise when implemented. But, have you ever thought that why is it that we being one of the tribe feel caged in the restrictions so much that it becomes difficult to make a free space to breathe. Even wearing a lipstick makes us feel ,doing a thing equivalent to climbing an Everest . Why do we heed to hide it? Colouring your o
